BANGOR – Evelyn K. McFadden, 96, wife of the late Wilbur McFadden, died Jan 5, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 10, 1909, in Corinna, the daughter of Sidney and Amy Knowles. Evelyn loved to dance, play cards with her friends at the Bangor House, paint by numbers painting, knitting mittens for area children, camping in Eastport until her later years, and she especially loved the Boston Red Sox. She also enjoyed her years as president of the Bangor House Tenants Club. She is survived by a daughter, Janet Rostrup of Glenburn; three grandsons, Keith Bragg and his wife, Tami, of Winterport, Ralph Helms and his wife, Sandy, of Hermon, and Alan Stone and his wife, Connie, of Bangor; one stepdaughter, Maria and her husband, Joseph Allard, of Glenburn; nine great-grandchildren, Briana, Tiffany, Jamie, Megan, Ryan, Dereck, Erika, Sean, and Amanda. In addition to her parents and her husband she was predeceased by one sister, Gladys Knowles; one brother, Merton Berry; a son-in-law, Robert Rostrup. She will be sadly missed by Merrill and Elena Leighton and several other close friends. A spring graveside service will be celebrated in Corinna.
