MILBRIDGE – Evelyn L. Merritt, 93, wife of the late Charles W. Merritt, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born May 20, 1911, in Columbia, the daughter of Naldin and Louise (Robinson) Hall. Evelyn was a graduate of Harrington High School, Class of 1929. She loved gardening, and was very talented at growing all types of plants, from house plants to vegetable gardening and outdoor plants. Evelyn was also an avid reader and was a gifted musician, especially at playing the mandolin. She is survived by two sons, Charlie Merritt and his wife, Ruth, of Sangerville and Arthur Merritt and his wife, Nancy, of Benton, Ark.; a sister, Merna Hall; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. At Evelyn’s request, she will be cremated and her ashes interred at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco, at a later date. Gifts in memory of Evelyn may be sent to the Narraguagus Bay Activity Fund, P.O. Box 309, Milbridge, ME 04658. Cremation arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge.
