BELFAST – Everard “Pete” Brierley, 87, of Belfast, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at a local health care facility. Born July 20, 1918, in Belfast, he was the son of G. Edward and Charlotte (Frost) Brierley. Pete was an avid golfer and an excellent carpenter. He was an umpire for a semi-pro baseball league and for the little league teams in Belfast and Bowdoinham. He was an avid sports fan and loved to attend events including his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed music, hunting and will be remembered as always singing or whistling. He was predeceased by his wife, Annie Brierley; a brother; Edward; two sisters, Eleanor and Clarice; his first wife, Georgia Ellis Brierley and a grandson, Barrett Catlin. Pete is survived by a son, Peter Brierley and his wife, Maureen of Texas; two daughters, Sandra Butler and her husband, Donald of New Jersey and Sharon Brassey-Brierley of England; one stepdaughter, Janice Hawthorne and her husband, John, of Belfast; one stepson, Howard Larrabee and his wife, Lisa, of Texas; grandchildren including Greg Brierley, Paris Brierley, Tobey Butler, Melanie Johnson, Deirdre Catlin, Shelagh Dorn, Peter Catlin, Scott Hawthorne, Alison Hawthorne, Lisa Hawthorne, Howard Larrabee III, Terrie Desnoyers, Brett Larrabee, Ashley Larrabee and Tyler Larrabee; 21 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a special niece, Judy Warren. Donations preferred to Waldo County Home Health Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 772, Belfast, ME 04915. Memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005 at Rackliffe Funeral Home with the Rev.
