PLYMOUTH – F. Del Flood, 91, died March 22, 2007, at his home after a long illness. He was born Oct. 10, 1915, in Forest Hills, Mass., the son of Frank D. and Miriam (Lozier) Flood. He was a graduate of Richmond Maine High School. As a young man, Del supported the war effort during World War II as an overseer at a shipyard in Portland and worked his way up to supervisor of the yard. After the war Del moved to Plymouth and started a dairy farm which became very successful. He also started a refrigeration business and with this he became very successful. Del married Joan Lewis in Plymouth Oct. 1, 1955. Losing his dairy barn to fire in 1968, Del semi-retired but continued with his refrigeration business. In 1977 Del, his wife, Joan, and son, Alan, built, owned and operated Flood’s General Store, Newport. In 1990 Del and his wife truly retired. They enjoyed traveling and they did, they visited all 50 states, the providences of Canada, Mexico to Guatemala to the Texas line. He was a member of Meridian Splendor Masonic Lodge, Newport for more than 50 years. Active in the town of Plymouth affairs, he had served as first selectman and as the first director from Plymouth on the Nokomis School Board. He was a former member of the Plymouth Grange and was active in the National Farmers Organization. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Flood of Plymouth; his son, Alan Flood of Plymouth; one grandson and his wife, Stacy and Tamara Flood of Hudson, Mass.; four great-granddaughters, Regina, Natasha, Gabrella and Carra. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport. Public Masonic services will be conducted 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home by the officers and members of Meridian Splendor Masonic Lodge officiating. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, March 26, at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Woodbury officiating. Spring burial will be at Sawyer Cemetery Plymouth.
