BANGOR and ELLSWORTH Faye Grace Shaw, 80, died peacefully Feb. 22, 2008, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born Feb. 1, 1928, in Easton, the daughter of Vaughn and Ruby (Bowers) MacDonald. Faye graduated from the School of Nursing at Eastern Maine General Hospital. She went on to make nursing her career and worked at Eastern Maine Medical Center for more than 40 years. Faye was a long time member of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church. She was the corresponding secretary, as well as a member of Eastern Maine Nurses Alumni Association for many years. Faye loved to read, enjoyed traveling with her husband and was a dear mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great-grand-mother and friend to many, and will be dearly missed. She is survived by a son, John J. Shaw II and wife, Carol, of Bangor; a daughter, Jeananne Proulx and husband, Mark, of Eddington; five grandchildren, Sadie O. Shaw, Michelle M. Shepherd, Shawn J. Umble, James A. Umble IV and Mark A. Proulx II; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Rowen; a brother, Earle Bowers of Carmel; a special nephew, Timothy Ford of Bangor; and many friends. Faye was predeceased by her husband, John J. Shaw in 1996; and by a daughter-in-law, Lynn (Costigan) Shaw in 2000. Friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor, with the Very Rev. Richard McLaughlin, celebrant.
