PALMYRA – Fern L. Cray, 92, died unexpectedly Dec. 23, 2005, at a Pittsfield hospital following a short illness. She was born Feb. 27, 1913, in Washburn, the daughter of Charles and Velma (Easler) Richardson. She was educated in north Dexter schools. She married Miles L. Cray who died Sept. 22, 1990, after 59 years of marriage. Fern lived on the family farm for more than 60 years, for more than 45 of those years she and her husband worked to operate the dairy farm. Fern loved watching T.V., doing jig saw puzzles and working in her puzzle books. She always liked knowing what was going on and listened to her scanner faithfully. She is survived by three sons, Robert L. and his wife, Marion Cray, George R. Cray, Kenneth A. and his wife, Mary Jane Cray, all of Palmyra; one brother, Charles Richardson of Bangor; 13 grandchildren, Robert, Richard, Velma, Ronald, Mike, Dean, Karen, Alan, Kent, Ken, Kathy, Kevin, Kris, 24 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 27, at the Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 34 High St., Newport. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Burial will be in the family lot Village Cemetery, Palmyra.
