FARMINGTON – Fernand “Fern” Cyr, DMD, 77, of 58 Church St., Jay, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, Nov. 12, 2005, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington. He was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Fort Kent, a son of Louis and Yvonne (Caouette) Cyr. He graduated from Fort Kent High School and continued his education at St. Anselm’s College in New Hampshire and graduated in 1961 from Tufts University Dental School in Boston, Mass. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. On Oct. 20, 1962, he married Anne Fournier at St. Rose of Lima Church, Jay. A communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Jay, he was also a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies included working on jigsaw puzzles and challenging folks to a friendly game of cribbage. He was a sports enthusiast and an outdoorsman who enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and always enjoyed special family get-togethers that included both branches of the family as well as seeking the quiet solitude while hunting or fishing throughout the State of Maine. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Anne, of Livermore Falls; their son, John Cyr and his wife, Carol, of Pownal; their three daughters, Barbara Riley and her husband, David, of Framingham, Mass., Kathleen Voter and her husband, Patrick, of Sanford and Julie Thornton and her husband, Larry of Jay; three brothers, Rosaire Cyr and his wife, Annette, of Fort Kent, Rev. Joel Cyr of Brewer, Rev. Philip Cyr of St. Agatha; three sisters, Muriel Labbe and her husband, Ellery “Arms,” of Fort Kent, Michelle Haschak and her husband, Joseph, of Murrells Inlet, S.C. and Fernande Cyr of Agawam, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Cameron Voter, Kevin Voter, Kurtis Voter, Michelle Riley, Jonathan Riley, Will Thornton, Joel Thornton and Sarah Cyr. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday morning from St. Rose of Lima Church, Church Street, Jay, with the Rev. Roger Chabot officiating. Immediately following Mass, all are welcome to attend a family reception and comfort meal at the Parish Hall, Church Street, Jay. Family and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd. (Rte. 133), Jay, Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. Private family committal prayers at Holy Cross Cemetery, Livermore Falls.
