BASS HARBOR – Florence A. Murphy, 92, died July 22, 2007, at Mount Desert Island Hospital. She was born Dec. 7, 1914, in Lubec. Florence worked for the William Underwood Packing Co., for many years. She cooked for the Tremont Grammar School for 35 years and was a caretaker for many summer cottages throughout the years. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Seal Cove. Florence is survived by two sons, Merton E. Murphy and wife, Sylvia, of Tenants Harbor and Raymond E. Murphy and wife, Gloria, of Brunswick; five grandchildren, Jayson D. Murphy, Matthew D. Murphy, Lisa Maxwell, Joseph Murphy and Gretchen Cucchi and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Augustus Murphy; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Watson Murphy. Friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m Thursday, July 26, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, with the Rev.
