EDDINGTON – Florence E. Izaijs, 73, wife of Vilnis Izaijs, died Sept. 6, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 14, 1934, in Hampden, the daughter of Lewis S. and Margaret A. (Wescott) Stubbs. Florence was a graduate of Hampden Academy and worked as a nurse for many years at the James Taylor Osteopathic Hospital, Bangor, on the nursing care unit until it closed. She continued as a nurse for the Penobscot County Jail, retiring in the mid-90s. Florence was an avid Beano player and will be sadly missed by all. Surviving in addition to her husband of 48 years of Eddington, are three children, Steven Izaijs of Eddington, Melody Woodman and her husband, Dean, of Bucksport and John Izaijs and his wife, Shana, of Islesboro; seven grandchildren, Kristin Izaijs, Casey Bernier, Christopher Woodman, Darin Woodman, Austin, Emily and Brandon Izaijs; two great-grandchildren; Shawn and Elizabeth Bernier; three sisters, Marilyn Cope of Bradley, Norma Taylor of Washington state, and Juanita Philbrick of Winterport. She was predeceased by two brothers, John Stubbs and Phyllis Head. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Jonathan Eddy Cemetery, Route 178, Eddington, with the Rev. Dr. Tracy Reeves, pastor of North Brewer-Eddington United Methodist Church, presiding. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
