PITTSFIELD – Florence M. “Flo” McLeod, 66, died Feb. 19, 2005, at her daughter’s residence in Bristol, Conn. following a long illness. She was born July 25, 1938, in St. Agatha, the daughter of Denis and Irene (Chasse) Derosier. Florence graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield and also attended the University of Maine in Orono where she received he certification as a drivers education instructor. For many years she owned and operated McLeod’s Driving School in Pittsfield. She married Stanley E McLeod Sr. Jan. 30, 1962, in Wethersfield, Conn. and he predeceased her Jan. 20, 1988, after 26 years of marriage. Florence was a communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield, where she was a former member of the Parish Council and she was a past president and member of the Ladies Guild. Florence was a member of the Maine Drivers Education Association in Augusta. “Flo” as she was lovingly called was a great community advocate and always supported the Pine Tree Camp, the Egg Festival, St. Agnes School, the M.C.I. Boosters and the Nokomis Boosters. She is survived by five sons, Denis W. McLeod of Pittsfield, Stanley E. McLeod Jr. of Pittsfield, Timothy E. McLeod of Bristol, Conn., Ralph McLeod of Holden, Daniel McLeod of Hudson; three daughters, Wilda I.A. Gibson of Bristol, Conn., Heather A.E. Tessman of Bristol, Conn., Susan LaRiviere of Maryland; five brothers, Albert Derosier of Calhoun, Ga., George Derosier of Augusta, Joseph Edward Derosier of Hartland, Marc E. Derosier of Bradford, Denis Derosier Jr. of East Hartford, Conn.; four sisters, Laura Willey of Palmyra, Patricia Atkinson of Florida, Raymonde Ayotte of Bristol, Conn., Linda Shea of Florida; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Camille, Alfred, and Germaine. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at the Brown Funeral Home, 34 High St., Newport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Detroit Avenue, Pittsfield.
