PRESQUE ISLE – Florence S. McKay, 84, wife of the late John A. McKay, died peacefully July 20, 2006, surrounded by her family and friends at her home. She was born May 16, 1922, in Lowell Mass., the daughter of John and Esther (Stockbridge) Griffeth. Florence was a graduate of Bradshaw Business School in Lowell, Mass. and had resided there for the past 50 years She had been employed as the executive secretary for the superintendent of S.A.D No. 1 in Presque Isle for many years and later worked for William S. Cohen’s office in Presque Isle. Surviving her are six daughters, Janice Olsen and her husband, Svend, of Deer Isle, Martha Richardson and her husband, Phil, of Hyrum, Utah, Gail Audet of Orlando, Fla., Mary Mooney of Presque Isle, Carol Conti and her husband, James, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Sharon Grivois and her husband, Jeff, of Presque Isle; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, William Griffeth and his wife, Kay, of Danvers, Mass.; a sister, Barbara Babitz and her husband, Donald, of Oceanside, Calif. Predeceasing her were two brothers, Donald and Alan Griffeth; and a sister, Eleanor Koval. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Presque Isle with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Relatives and friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be made to either Hospice of Aroostook, P.O.
