MADAWASKA – Floyd P. Bushey, 78, died peacefully of natural causes Jan. 28, 2008, at his son’s residence in South Portland. He was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Sheridan, the son of the late John J. and Dina (Levesque) Bushey. Floyd retired as vice principal of Madawaska High School in 1988 after more than 30 years of service. He was also a history teacher and an avid reader. He served in the armed forces for about two years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish community. In the past, he served as lector and president of the parish counsel. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He continued his wife’s tradition of making homemade bread to share with family and friends. Floyd is survived by his children, Debra of Waterville, Philip of Brunswick, Douglas and his wife, April, of South Portland, and Paul and his wife, Stacy, of Little River, Md.; one grandson, Joshua Brown of Tennessee; and two brothers, Raymond of Clearmont, Fla., and Donald of Cumberland Foreside. He is predeceased by his wife, Irene Damboise Bushey; and one brother, Wilson. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service at Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be held in the spring at the parish cemetery.
