VERNON, Conn. – Forest W. Carrow, 79, the husband of the late Stella Carrow, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at his companion’s home in Springfield, Mass. Born in Levant, he had lived in Maine and Vernon, Conn., for most of his life. He was a retired bulldozer driver for Lindberger Excavation and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. Forest was a member of American Legion Post No. 102 Manchester, Conn., the American Folk Musician Association for nine years and was the founding member of the country/western band The Hockanum River Boys. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Janes and her husband, Brian, of Rockville, Conn.; his stepson, Mark Weston and his wife, Judy, of Vernon, Conn.; his grandchildren, Luke Hanscomb, Scott Hanscomb, Shane Tambling, Brian Tambling, Nicole Janes, and Clint Janes; his stepgrandson, Dale Shields; his companion, Lorraine Leary; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, Conn. A burial with military honors will be held after at Grove Hill Cemetery, Vernon, Conn. Family and friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
