PRESQUE ISLE – Forrest E. Ireland, 87, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, surrounded by his family, at home. He was born June 24, 1920, in Presque Isle, son of Andrew and Elizabeth (Ames) Ireland. Forrest farmed for 35 years in Presque Isle and was also a veteran of World War II. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots, as well as going to the harness races and fishing. He also enjoyed going and watching all of his grandchildren at their sporting events. He is survived by two sons, Jack Ireland and his wife, Lorie, of Mapleton, and Terry Ireland and his wife, Debi, of Bowdoinham; three daughters, Jill Williams of Saco, Jean Wiggins and her husband, Arlington, of Mars Hill, and Ginger Grivois and her husband, Kirk, of Presque Isle. Forrest also had seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Heidi Connor, Arlie Wiggins, Andrew, Eric and Amy Grivois, Kailee and Megan Ireland, and Caitlin and Jared Watson. He was predeceased by his wife, Maxine (Walton) Ireland, in 2001; and a brother, Philip, in 2005. At Forrest’s request, there will be a private graveside service held at Fairmount Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to Logan P.
