WALDO – Frances “Cookie” Farris, 92, passed away Oct. 24, 2007. She was born Dec. 25, 1914, in Dennysville, the daughter of Eugene and Cassie (Willey) Cook. She graduated from Dennysville High School and Waldo County General Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her registered nurse degree in 1937. “Cookie” married her first husband, Cela Vose, in 1937 and together they had two daughters, Sally-Jeane and Sandra-Lee. She married Arthur Farris in 1952, gaining a wonderful stepson, Richard, and together she and Arthur had a daughter, Burna-Dette. She is survived by her three daughters, Sally-Jeane Clark and husband, Deane, of San Diego, Sandra-Lee Barcus of Rockwell, N.C., and Burna-Dette Evans and husband, Mark, of Waldo; her stepson, Richard Farris and wife, Betty, of Belfast; grandchildren, Deane “Randy” Clark, Daniel Clark and wife, Becky, Kelly-Jeane Archer, Terry Barcus, Patrick Barcus and wife, Angie, Dawn (Farris) Pendergast and husband, Jami, Arthur “Burn” Farris IV and wife, Shellie, Tracy Evans, and Lori Evans; seven great-grandchildren; and two special “sons,” Wayne Melanson and Stan McCorrison. She was predeceased by her parents; first husband, Cela; second husband, Arthur; and sister, Berniece Wilbur. At Cookie’s request, there will be no visiting hours nor funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Waldo County Home Health-care and Hospice, 119 Northport Ave., P.O. Box 407, Belfast, ME 04915. A gathering to celebrate Cookie’s life will be held 1 p.m. Nov. 25 at her home in Waldo.
