ADDISON and BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – Frances Drisko Look died Sept. 12, 2007, at Sunrise Care Facility, Jones-port. She was born Nov. 23, 1913, in Addison, the daughter of Merrill F. Drisko and Hope (Dresser) Drisko. Her great-great-great-grandfather was Col. Joseph Wallace, one of the founders of Milbridge. Frances earned a teaching certificate at Washington State Normal School, Machias and a bachelor and master’s degree from Central Missouri State University. She taught school in Addison, Beals Island and Jonesport for 14 years. In 1950, Frances and her husband, Gene, and two daughters moved from Jonesport to Blue Springs, Mo. She taught sixth grade in the R-IV School District, Blue Springs, Mo., for 28 years. Frances was a lifelong member of Community of Christ Church and was active in the Colonial Hills congregation. She was a member of Blue Springs Historical Society, Blue Springs Optimists and was a founding member of the Blue Springs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of Indian River Grange and was a founding member of Pleasant River Historical Society. She was a founder of Indian River Church Association and was instrumental in having the church entered on the National Register of Historic Buildings in 1988. Frances was also a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, Beano and going places in the nursing home’s van. Frances is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Smith of Blue Springs, Mo.; her grandchildren, Bonnie S. Thompson of Addison, Mark Thompson of Beaverton, Ore., LouAnn Shan-non of Shawnee Mission, Kan., Jennifer Alexitch of Kansas City, Kan., Michael Phillips of Des Moines, Iowa, and Holly Caskey of St. Paul, Minn.; her great-grandchildren, Eric Thomp-son, Allison Thompson, Brian Shannon, Devin Shannon, Johnathon Wheeler, Matthew Alexitch, Nicholas Alexitch, Katherine Phillips, Jacob Phillips, David Cook and Daniel Cook; a great-great-grand-daughter, Evelyn May Shannon; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Grant and Frances Kofoed of Addison, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Eugene S. Look; a sister, Ruth Drisko; a brother, Arnold Drisko; a daughter, Lorraine Look Hendrix; a grandson, Jay S. Hendrix; and a great-grandson, Scott Shannon. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Community of Christ Church, Jonesport. A reception will be after the service. Another memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at Colonial Hills Community of Christ Church, Blue Springs, Mo., and a reception will be after.
