OLD TOWN – Lester D. Thibodeau Sr., 83, passed away peacefully Sept. 14, 2007. He was born July 1, 1924, in Orono, son of Paul and Gladys (Gonya) Thibodeau. Lester was raised in Old Town and graduated from Old Town High School. He served our country in the Army Air Corps during World War II, as an airplane maintenance technician. Lester worked for the Maine State Troopers as an auto mechanic at Troop E’s Orono Barracks for 18 years, until his retirement in 1986. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Lester is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna (Elliott) Thibodeau; son, Edward Thibodeau of Owings, Md.; brothers, Edward Thibodeau and his wife, Hilda, of Veazie, Ray Thibodeau and his wife, Rose, of Bradley and Robert Thibodeau and his wife, Janet, of Old Town; grandchildren, Mark, Amy, Kristin and Erika; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sons, Francis E. Thibodeau and L. David Thibodeau Jr.; siblings, Harold Thibodeau, Geneva McNeeley, Margaret Deschaines, Regina Deschaine, Gladys “Bunny” Henderson and Mary Ellen Thibodeau. A graveside service with military honors will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Arrangements are in the care of Birmingham Funeral Home.
