NORWAY – Frances H. Byard, 83, formerly of Blue Hill died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center. She was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Sedgwick, the daughter of Ira and Martha Gray Hamilton. She graduated from Sedgwick High School. She married Proctor B. Byard on April 11, 1939. She had been employed at the Ellsworth Woolen Mill for 15 years. She retired from Blue Hill Hospital where she had been central supply supervisor. She was a member of the Eastern Star, holding many offices including Worthy Matron. She also belonged to the Deer Isle Country Club. She is survived by her daughter, Ragna Gauger and her husband, Charles, of Topsham; two grandchildren, Todd Gauger and his wife, Kristen, of South Paris and Mark Gauger and his wife, Christine, of North Yarmouth; three great-grandchildren, Derek and Megan of South Paris and Vanessa of Portland; and a sister-in-law, Priscilla Walsh of Fort Myers, Fla. She was predeceased by her husband on Oct. 28, 1998. Interment will be at Forest Home Cemetery in Sargentville. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, Blue Hill, ME 04614, or Harbor View Chapter No. 136, Order of the Eastern Star, 8 Goose Cove Rd., Deer Isle, ME 04627. Arrangements are under the direction of Weston Chandler Funeral Home, 230 Main St., Norway.
