PORTLAND – Frances R, Miller, 78, peacefully passed away on July 30, 2004, at Fallbrook Woods Assisted Living Center in Portland. She was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Augusta. She was the daughter of the late William and Ruth Frances Poulin and sister to the late Stella Guimond. She was raised mostly in Portland. She married the late Harry Wade Miller on March 2, 1946. Prior to children, she was a former employee of New England Telephone Co. Together with their two children, they lived all over Maine, Portland, Scarborough, Ellsworth, Presque Isle, Winslow, and Brewer. Prior to the onset of Alzheimer’s, Fran thrived on being active. She played golf in the summer and bridge in the winter. She was an active member at the Penobscot Valley Country club and helped chair many events. Whether you called her Mom, Peekie, Aunt Frances, Fran or Frannie, you could count on her love of family, friends, laughter, and a strong will for life. She is survived by a son, Stephen Miller of Portland; a daughter, Lynn Spivey of Bath; a grandson, Kirk Cratty of South Portland; a niece, Coralie Stewart of South Portland; plus other cousins, nieces and nephews. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Margaret Faurbach and Betty Shannon, both of New Jersey; and three brothers-in-law, Thomas and Robert Miller, both of Massachusetts, and Dick Miller of New Jersey.
