OLD TOWN – Francis J. Roy, 73, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at his home. He was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Old Town, the son of the late Victor J. and Natalie (Bertrand) Roy. Francis was a graduate of Old Town High School, Class of 1952. He later joined the U.S. Army as a mechanic and fought in the Korean War. After his discharge, Francis worked for James River Co., Old Town, for 32 years. He was a member of the Old Town American Legion, VWF and was also a frequent visitor and patron of Pat’s Pizza, Orono. Francis loved to travel to places where he could gamble and play the “slots.” He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his son, Frank P. Roy; daughter, Lynette Roy-Fraser and her husband, Wallace Jr.; grandson, Peyton J. Fraser, whom he was very proud of; three sisters, Jeannette Potter, Shirley Wood and Elaine Garceau; two brothers, Clement and Nelson Roy, many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Victor J. Roy Jr.; and his dog, Benson. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
