ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. and BANGOR – Francis L. Moores, 83, died at East Pasco Medical Center, Jan 9, 2005, after a long illness. He was born March 25, 1921, in Lincoln, the son of Ernest and Virginia (Fenlason) Moores. Francis was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre Operation, where he received the Purple Heart. He worked as a buyer with Federal Electric in Alaska, and Washington State for many years. Returning to Maine in 1963, he was a salesman with Superior Paper Co. in Bangor. Throughout his working years he owned and operated grocery stores in Carroll and Etna. He and his wife resided in Orlando, Fla., for 22 years, returning to Maine in 1999. As an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He was a Maine guide in his early years and held a private pilots license in Alaska. In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by a daughter, Katherine and her husband, Tom Tedeschi, of Hope; a grandson, Nicholas Krakoff of Montreal, Canada; two sisters, Avis Fleck of Windham, and Marilyn Sutherland of Lincoln; a brother, Philip of Arizona; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Hollis and Carroll. A memorial service for Francis will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Springfield Congregational Church, with Linda Hatch officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Annex following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carroll Congregational Church in his memory. Donations may be left at the Springfield Church.
