EAST WATERBORO – Frank J. Tarazewich, 70, a resident of Sokokis Trail, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2006, in Plant City, Fla. He was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Saco, a son of Bronislaw and Nellie Rish Tarazewich. Frank graduated from Thornton Academy, Class of 1953, where he lettered in football. He was a U.S. Marine who served his country from 1953-1956. Frank graduated from the University of Maine, Class of 1963, with a Bachelor of Science in Education and was a member of the football team. In 1965, he played semi pro football with the Portland Seahawks. Then in 1966, he received his masters in education from the University of Maine. Frank coached football for Thornton Academy and Greenville High School. He was employed as a physical education teacher for two years and later became district principal for 10 years at Greenville High School. Mr. Tarazewich was a member of Kiwanis Club and a Boy Scout leader in Greenville. Moving to East Waterboro, he worked for SAD 57 for 22 years. He was employed as the transportation coordinator, elementary school district supervisor and later as the Alfred Elementary School principal, retiring in 2000. Frank was a youth hockey coach in Sanford and president of Maine Club Ice Hockey Association for Massabesic High School. Mr. Tarazewich was a member of the House of Representatives, District 12, State of Maine, from 2000-2002. He enjoyed wintering in Plant City, Fla., with his wife, Judith. His interests included hunting, fishing, painting, writing poetry, extensive reading, traveling and researching his heritage in Poland. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was predeceased by one daughter, Stacy Ann; and two brothers, Joseph and Walter. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judith Holmes Tarazewich of East Waterboro; one son, Christopher F. Tarazewich of East Waterboro; one daughter, Kelly MacFadyen and her husband, Danny, of Greenville; three sisters, Bernice Ayotte and husband, Ronald, of Saco, Ann Brouillard of Saco, Frances Mailman and her husband, Gerald, of Portland; four grandchildren, Trevor, Troy, Trajdan and Hannah; several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday from Cote Funeral Home, corner of Beach and James Streets, Saco. Visiting hour will be noon-1 p.m. Thursday with a funeral service 1 p.m. from Cote Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Burton S. Howe officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Greenville Cemetery in Greenville. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
