PRESQUE ISLE – Frank R. Hemphill, 82, passed away peacefully Aug. 18, 2005, at his Presque Isle residence following a long illness. He was born July 30, 1923, at Presque Isle, the son of Roland and Almeda (Cunningham) Hemphill. A life long resident of Presque Isle, Frank farmed on the Easton Road for many years. He was a member of the A.S.C.S. County Committee for 22 years. In 1994, the Hemphill family was recognized as the Farm Family of the Year. Frank was a member of the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church of Presque Isle for over 60 years where he sang in the choir, and was an active member of the Men’s Club. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts for many years. Frank had many hobbies and enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. His favorite spot was the camp on Millinocket Lake. Frank was predeceased by his parents; brother, Claude Hemphill; and sister, Pauline Grimshaw. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Fanny Mae (Libby) Hemphill of Presque Isle; two sons, Judd and his wife, Dianne; and Jeff and his wife, Anne, all of Presque Isle; two daughters, Sheila Kinney and her husband, Don, of Franklin, Mass. and Karen Rittal and her husband, Jim, of Orono; seven grandchildren, Eric Hemphill and his wife, Kelly, Greg Hemphill and his wife, Kim, all of Presque Isle, Chris Kinney of Haverhill, Mass., Tim Kinney of Pawtucket, R.I., Craig Hemphill and his wife, Michelle, of Fort Fairfield, Aaron Rittal of Bangor and Leanne (Hemphill) Candura and her husband, Jeff, of Loveland, Colo.; great- grandchildren, Erica, Alex, Garrett, Graydon, Grant, Gavin, Clarissa, Megan, Shonda, Jordan; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, 79 Fleetwood St., Presque Isle with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Blackstone officiating. Interment will be in the Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle.
