BANGOR – Frank Sherman Knight, 80, died Dec. 2, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Hanover, N.H. the son of Frank A. and Ida E. (Sherman) Knight. Frank was a graduate of Camden High School, Class of 1943, then served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Later he attended the Leland Powers School of Radio, Boston. Frank began a well respected 23 year career in the radio and television broadcasting field with special emphasis on news and public affairs. After this time he owned and operated Fairmount Market in Bangor for a time, then was asked to become an instructor at the New England School of Communications. He was a longtime, active member of St. Mary’s Parish, serving as a eucharistic minister, lector, and was involved with several commissions. He was predeceased by a son, Frederick P. Knight; and by two brothers, Ralph E. Knight and George L. Knight. Surviving are his wife, Jane S. (Burns) Knight of Bangor; a grandson, Matthew A. Knight of Dover, N.H.; two great- grandsons, a brother, James W. Knight of Arlington, Wash.; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor, with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor celebrant.
