BANGOR – Franklin E. Berlucchi, 81, passed away peacefully May 8, 2005, in his sleep at his Bangor home. Known as Joe to family and friends, he was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Old Town, to Walter and Laura (St. Louis) Berlucchi. He attended Bangor schools and at age 18 enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps serving with the First Marine Division in World War II at Guadal Canal in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed for many years as a sheet metal foreman at Webber Oil Co. Upon retiring, he owned and managed three multi-unit apartment buildings in Bangor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing baseball as a young man and continued to be an avid Red Sox fan until his death. He is survived by his wife, Elaine C. Berlucchi of Bangor; a sister, Thelma Berube of Jackman; a son, Gary W. and his wife, Joyce, of South Portland; a daughter, Bonnie J. Hull of Portland; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Ella and Kay; and brothers, Gerald and Bernard. At Joe’s request graveside committal prayers at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor will be privately held May 11, 2005. Arrangements by Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer.
