MAPLETON – Freda D. Simpson, 66, died Thursday night, Sept. 6, 2007, at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was born June 20, 1941, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Perley and Ella (Morse) McPherson. Freda enjoyed cooking, always cooking for others, and she loved to read. She is survived by four sons, Mark, Kendall and his wife, Wendy, Tracy and his wife, Lisa, all of Mapleton and Dean and his wife, Nancy, of Enfield, Conn.; two daughters, Tami Bowman and her husband, Clayton, of Woodlawn, Va., and Cindy Clark and her husband, David, of Mapleton; two sisters and their husbands, Phyllis and Stewart Steeves of Browns Flat, New Brunswick, and Joann and Ronald Wilkinson of Arizona; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two husbands, Weldon Simpson and Loyce Richardson. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept., 10, at Southside Cemetery, Mapleton, with the Rev. Stewart Steeves officiating. A reception will be after at Mapleton United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in her memory to Presque Isle Nursing Home, 162 Academy St., Presque Isle, ME 04769.
