PEMBROKE – Frederick T. Chase, 70, died April 27, 2006, after a brief battle with lung cancer, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Pembroke. He was born Sept. 10, 1935, in Boston, Mass. He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly; his mother, Nina; father, Earl; his stepfather, Tony; several brothers and sisters and a son-in-law, Kenny Cushing. He is survived by a daughter, Melanie Bagley and her husband, Chuck, of Pembroke; three sons, Ricky Chase of Missouri, Rory Ashby and companion, Darcy, and Sheldon Ashby and companion, Tina, both of Pembroke; two sisters, Shirley and Arlene, both of Massachusetts; stepdaughter, Diane Rizzo and her husband, Russ, of New York; stepdaughter, Janice Labonte and her husband, Al, of Corinna; stepson, Jon Gaspie and his wife, Jeanette, of Bar Harbor; a stepson, Brandon Ashby of Pembroke; a special friend, Sally Ashby of Roque Bluffs and special grandchildren, Leslie, Kenny, Leah, Keith, Robert, William, Jason, Mark, Jonathan, Jeannelle, Sarah, Damien, Anakyn, Austin, Aiden; and several great-grandchildren. Fred served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. He was a friend to all. If you needed help he would be there with an open hand and heart. He always loved to joke and razz the help at Pembroke Irving. He could usually be found at the clam shop in Pembroke. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. We love you Dad! At his request there will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Clarkside Cemetery in Pembroke, with a gathering to follow at Fred’s house behind the Pembroke Irving. All are welcome. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Lubec.
