HOULTON – Freeman F. Taylor, 77, died Feb. 25, 2004, at home sur-rounded by his family after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born Feb. 10, 1927, at Ludlow, the son of Frederick H. and Daisy (Hall) Taylor. Freeman attended schools in Ludlow, Houlton and Ricker College. He served two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II in Okinawa and China. He was an area farmer, wood harvester, over-the-road trucker, horse breaker and trainer and a heavy equipment operator. He liked fast horses, motorcycles and snowsleds, and he also liked to socialize and tell stories that were at least partly true. A sure sign of spring was when Freeman started tapping trees to make maple sugar. In 1978, Freeman met and married Pauline Nason. They had one child, Billie Jo, who became the apple of their eye and the center of their attention. Freeman retired from Lane Construction Co., at age 75 due to failing health. He is survived by his wife, Pauline “Polly” (Stairs) Taylor; children, Billie Jo Taylor, Kenny Nason and his wife, Phyllis, Kelly Nason, Gary Nason and his companion, Pam Fogerty, Kevin Nason and his “other girl” Megan McCallum, and Circus Sam; two grandchildren; two brothers, Russell Taylor and his wife, Joyce, Holland Taylor and his wife, Della; three sisters, Arlean Mooradian and her husband, Chuck, Barbara Fitzpatrick, Betty Harvey and her husband, Asa; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Dunn Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Randall Burns officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
