FORT FAIRFIELD – Mrs. Laurette Gagnon, 87, wife of the late Clarence R. Gagnon, died Feb. 26, 2004, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, after a long illness. She was born Aug. 29, 1916, at Eagle Lake, the daughter of Francis and Sophie (Fournier) Saucier. She attended Eagle Lake schools and was married to Clarence R. Gagnon July 4, 1934. Mrs. Gagnon was a communicant of the St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Santa Maria Circle No. 27, Fort Fairfield, a member of VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187 Ladies Auxiliary, Fort Fairfield and the Sunshine Club, Fort Fairfield. Laurette enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, playing cards, attending bingo and volunteering her time at the former Community General Hospital, Fort Fairfield. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Alderick, Patrick and Steven Saucier; three sisters, Rose Labbie, Agnes Bishop, Yvonne Doustou. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sylvia Gagnon of Bath; four daughters, Teresa Cyr, Shirley Polom, both of Fort Fairfield, Rose Ovaldson of North Hollywood, Calif., Mildred “Millie” Tranbarger, of Fort Fairfield; one brother, Albert Saucier of Barefoot Bay, Fla.; one sister, Laura Saucier of Plaisted; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a Vigil Service will be conducted at 8 p.m. by the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2004, at the St. Denis Catholic Church, 143 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie celebrant. Interment will take place at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring. Relatives and friends are invited to a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 260 Main St., Fort Fairfield, immediately following the Funeral Mass. Those who choose may contribute in memory of Mrs. Gagnon to her family, to be used in accordance with their wishes in care of the Dorsey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 567, Fort Fairfield, ME 04742.
