HERMON – Freeman R. Holland, 67, died Oct. 4, 2003, unexpectedly at a Bangor hospital, due to complications after surgery. He was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Steuben, the son of the late Walter L. and Doris (Leighton) Holland. Freeman was a well-respected heavy equipment operator and had been employed with Lou Silver, Inc. for 38 years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grampa, who enjoyed spending time with his family and playing in the dirt with special grandson, Jake. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, and his winter home in Florida. Freeman was always there to assist his family when needed and will be missed by many. Freeman is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bernice (Andrews) Holland of Hermon; three children, Berta Costigan and husband, Steve, of Hermon, Wyatt Holland and wife, Elaine, of Glenburn, Wanda Riling and husband, Alan, of Levant; five grandchildren, Amanda Rushmore and husband, Bill, of Hampden, Shellie Coltart and husband, Adam, of Bangor, Nikki Holland of Glenburn, Ashley and Jacob Riling of Levant; two great-granddaughters, Samantha Rushmore, and Mackenzie Coltart; five siblings, Mildred Dinsmore, Curtis Holland, Rachel Holland, Margaret Ginn; and twin brother, Alvin Holland; several nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Simpson Cemetery, East Sullivan.
