WILLINGTON, Conn. – Galen James Kelley, born Feb. 2, 1930, in Milbridge, went home to be with the Lord June 8, 2007. He was the son of the late Augustus and Bessie (Strout) Kelley. Galen was a Teamsters diesel mechanic, then a custodian at Tolland Middle School. He was beloved by the children and teachers. He retired to enjoy hobbies of model shipbuilding, creative writings, and music. Galen was known for his gentle and giving spirit. Galen was predeceased by his first wife of 34 years, Loretta (Jordan) Kelley. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Hess and husband, John, and Shirley Mudzinski and husband, Bruce; and two grandchildren, Daniel and Kelley Mudzinski. Galen is also survived by his wife, Norma Hastings, whom he married in 1990; four stepsons, E. Bruce Sweeny, Alan Hess, Frederick Hess, and John Hess and their children; one brother, Albert Kelley and wife, Lena (Ray) Kelley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Elliot Cirone and Betty and Robert Noble; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Duane and Torrie Fox and children, George Tracy; and many cherished friends and families in Christ. The family thanks North Central Hospice and Rockville Hospital and staff in Connecticut, and the many special friends that helped during his long illness. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Main Street, Milbridge. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Evergreen Cemetery, Milbridge, officiated by Pastor Ambrose Rolfe.
