EDMUNDS – Gardner D. Griffin passed away unexpectedly May 2, 2005. Gardner grew up in Cutler, one of 13 children. Later he moved to Edmunds to marry his lifetime companion of almost 50 years, Priscilla Brown. There he learned the art of wood harvesting by the old style of horse and bucksaw. The thing that he loved most, more than fishing and hunting, was his children and grandchildren. He never considered his work done even after his children were raised always taking the time to continue passing his knowledge on to his grandchildren. Gardner was happiest socializing with friends and family. Gardner is survived by his wife of 49 years, Priscilla; his daughters, Vicky McLaughlin and her husband, Billy, Kelly Stevens and her husband, Terry; his sons, Michael and his wife, Ruby, Dale and his wife, Shelly, Jeff and family, Timmy and his wife, Betty; 13 grandchildren, Jodi, Tony, Craig, Darrell, Jeremy, Patrick, Brent, Jessica, Shane, Adam, Derek, Cassidy, Kristen; stepgrandchildren, Shannon and Holly; seven great-grandchildren, Shawn, Nick, William, Natcha, Kyle, Madison, Alex, Teren, Trevon, Devin; six sisters, Gertie Barker, Frances Lord, Arlene Bryant, Norma Hall, Mavis Laskey, Kathleen Antaya and all their families. He is also survived by a special nephew and friend, Joey Antaya. There will be a gathering to celebrate his life for friends and family 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Gardner’s home.
