FORT MYERS, Fla. – Garth L. Good, 85, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2004. He was born at Monticello, and was raised on a potato farm in northern Maine during the depression. He worked his way through college on many odd jobs, including playing tenor sax in a jazz band. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1941. He served as a Sergeant in the Army-Air Force in World War II, fighting on the eastern front in India and China. He returned to Maine and married Margaret Good in 1947, living in Mars Hill working as a fire marshal. He later moved to South Portland, where he sold fire trucks and equipment throughout northern New England for 25 years. While living in South Portland, he served as a member of the school board and as a member of the City Council for 20 years. He was active in little league baseball, South Portland High School athletics, the Order of the Masons, and many other local charitable and civic organizations. He moved to the Fort Myers area in 1976. He sold real estate as a broker and part owner of Century 21/AAIM Realty Group until he retired from the real estate business in 1995, at the age of 77. He actively played golf until his death. He will always be remembered as a devout Red Sox fan and someone who had nothing good to say about the Yankees. He is survived by his loving family of three sons; Jeffrey (LouAnn) Good of Fort Myers, Fla., Lee (Linda Moy) Good of Reno, Nev., Scott Good of Steepe Falls; two daughters, Cindi (Jim) Stultz of Westbrook, Margo (Seth) Black of N.
