BANGOR – George A. Bishop, died Aug. 11, 2005, after a long illness. He was born May 9, 1930, in Cumberland, R.I., the son of the late George and Mildred (Schofield) Bishop, of Cumberland, R.I. George married Norma M. Scally in 1949. He is survived by his wife Norma of 55 years. Together they have four children; one son, George N. Bishop and his wife, Linda, of 15 years, of Clifton; three daughters, Susan Kolonick and her husband, Peter, of Cumberland, R.I., Valerie Colsant and her husband, Joseph, of Murrietta, Calif., Lisa LaVoie and her husband, Kirk, of San Clemente, Calif., four grandchildren, Peter and Joshua Kolonick, Justin Burgess and Janessa Valerie Bishop; one sister, Sally Thornley and her husband, Joe, of Montville; one brother, William Rafuse and his wife, Stephanie, of Montville; several nieces and nephews. George was a wonderful husband and father. George served in the U.S. Army from March 1952 to March 1954. He worked for Cumberland Farms Dairy from 1955 to 1975. Then he moved his family to Bangor where he became plant manager of Grant’s Dairy on Union Street in Bangor until he retired in 1996. George was a member of Unity and Lafayette Masonic Lodges in Cumberland, R.I., and when he moved to Bangor became a member of the Lynde Lodge No. 174 of Hermon. George and Norma loved their family and dedicated their lives to showing them. Their family was their greatest gift from God. George will be sadly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Bangor.
