ADDISON – George E. “Popeye” Denny, 76, passed away unexpectedly March 14, 2005, at his home. He was born July 21, 1928, in Addison, the son of the late Richard and Emma (Norton) Denny. During his lifetime, Popeye worked as a lobster fisherman and hauled gravel, which he enjoyed very much. He was a member of the Tuscon Masonic Lodge No.106 for 30 years. Popeye was an avid VHF radio fan. He enjoyed watching Nascar as well as going to Warren Davis’s garage. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen; and three brothers, Richard “Joe,” Ernest “Jumpie,” and Leonard “Lenny.” George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Francena Denny; son, Stephen Denny and wife, Rose; daughter, Judy Redimarker and friend, Danny Densmore; grandchildren, Gisele Hall and husband, Abe, Angela Looke and husband, Larry, Mellanie Barrett and husband, Chet, Richard “Bub” Redimarker and wife, Linda, Stephanie Chambers and husband, Larry; great-grand-children, Stephen and “Red” Ryan Hall, Candice and Carlye Looke, Cassandra and Eric Chambers, Aaron Barrett, Kristy Taylor, Dean Barrett, Trisha Redimarker and Ricky Redimarker; sisters-in-law, Eva Denny and Clara Denny; special friends, Anna Shaw and her sons, Stephen and Roger, of Mars Hill, Barbara and Bobby Gastia of Milford, Harold McDougall; several cousins of Canada; Jim Carver and the construction crew, whom Popeye thought a lot of, and many, many friends and the crew from the VHF. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the Union Church, South Addison, officiated by Elder James Bucknam. Burial will follow at Church Hill Cemetery in Addison. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Maine Affiliate, 20 Winter St., P.O. Box 346, Augusta, ME 04330-0346. Arrangements are under the care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge.
