GLENBURN – George Francis “Pepa” LePage, 58, died peacefully Saturday, June 24, 2006, surrounded by family and friends, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 3, 1947, in Bangor, the son of the late George Romeo Alexander LePage and Edith Pricilla (Young) LePage. He graduated from Old Town High School in 1966. He then attended University of Maine at Orono and attained a degree in electrical engineering. George spent his career devoted to Cianbro Corporation. He worked all over New England on many projects. It was 34 years later that he decided it was time to retire. He was a well-respected superintendent upon his retirement, six months ago. Any outdoor activity kept George busy. He loved snowmobiling, boating, jet skiing, fishing and hunting, really anything that kept him shopping at Dick’s Sporting Goods. He recently took a trip to Canada to try flyfishing. If you checked his house and found he wasn’t there, usually you could see him and Marla out on the lake in the party boat cruising around. George’s family was very important to him. He is survived by his life partner, Marla Landry of Glenburn; five children, Marie and Kevin McLellan of Bucksport and their children, Richard, Cameron, Brianna and Sierra, Craig and Melissa LePage of Winterport and their children, Kaylie Sue and Alexis Jean “Lexi Lou,” other children, Angela and Gary McLaughlin of Corinth and daughter, Marissa “Rissa Roo,” Kimberly and Brocke Robinson of Yuba City, Calif. and children, Andrew “Andy,” Kyle and Ian “Bean,” Samantha and Mike Belcher of Yuba City, Calif.; brothers and family, Ira and Kathy LePage of Glenburn and Edward and Janet LePage of Old Town. George was known to all of the children as “Grampa” or “Pepa.” He leaves behind many friends including, Barbara and Ron Jones of Bangor, Laura and John Henry and children, Sean, Ryan and Jason of Detroit. He is predeceased by his parents; a brother, Gary LePage; and a sister, Elizabeth LePage. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a celebration of life will be conducted 9 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Ron Chaffee officiating. Interment will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Old Town immediately after the service. Gathering will be held at the residence in Glenburn after the internment.
