BREWER and NEW GLOUCESTER, CLEARWATER, Fla. – George L. Langlais, 85, died April 25, 2007, at Maine Veterans’ Home, South Paris, where he received excellent care. He was born May 19, 1921, in Waterville, son of George Langlais and Alice Maheu Langlais. He graduated from Thomas Business College. He served in the 236th Army Medical Services Detachment in World War II in Northern France and received the Purple Heart. George worked for the Maine Department of Motor Vehicles for 30 years, serving as a license examiner, and retired as chief motor vehicle investigator. In retirement he worked as a security officer at the Bangor Mall for several years. George was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, life member of VFW, DAV and in the American Legion for 50 consecutive years. He fought a brave fight with rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and kidney failure to the end. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Gilberte Michaud Langlais; daughters, Roxanne and husband, Harvey Wheeler, of Cumberland Foreside, Patricia and husband, Regis Beaulieu, of Turner and Sandra Wardwell of Stamford, Conn.; and a son, Steven Langlais of New Gloucester. George leaves a brother, Leonard Langlais of Waterville; cousin, Leona Smith of New Port Richey, Fla.; special sister-in-law, Sylvia Michaud Kessell of South Paris; grandchildren, Beth and husband, Stephen Taglieri, Katie Mailman, Amy Beaulieu, SrA Zach Beaulieu USAF, Luke Wardwell, Sam Liberty-Langlais and Emma Liberty-Langlais and several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Gloria Langlais King. Visiting hours 2-5 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at Wilson Funeral Home, Gray. A Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, April 30, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Gray. A private burial will take place with full military honors at Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Augusta.
