INDIAN TOWNSHIP – Geo-rge P. Purdy, 66, died Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Calais Regional Hospital. George was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Princeton, son of the late Edward and Katherine (Socoby) Purdy. He married Judy Hitchcock July 9, 1973. George was employed as a truck driver for many years with United Van Lines, based in Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, walking, traveling and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by a daughter, Georgia Purdy. Surviving are his wife, Judy of Indian Township; eight children, Peter, Linda and Priscilla Purdy, all of Oklahoma, Rita Purdy of Indian Township, Edward Purdy of Missouri, Tanna Ackley of East Machias, Mary Purdy of Calais and Jessica Purdy of Indian Township; a sister, Hazel Brown of Lew-iston; a brother, Lester Purdy of Indian Township; grandchildren, Timmy and Donavon Blue, Cheyanne Lewey, Anjelita Muniz, Marissa Ackley and many others in Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews and cousins; good friends, Chuckie and Janice Howard, Roger and Joseph Socobasin, and Matt and Terri Dana; and many other close friends. Visitation will be held until 10 a.m. Tuesday at the home of Matt and Terri Dana, 7 Fox Den, Indian Township.
