LINCOLN – George W. Steeves, 86, husband of Marguerite (Brad-street) Steeves, died April 24, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 19, 1917, in Melrose, Mass., the son of Elisha T. and Josephine (Beaumont) Steeves. George was a veteran of World War II and was a 50-year member of Horeb Lodge No. 93 in Lincoln. He worked as a mechanic at Casino Motor Co., Bradstreet Ford Sales, Sherwood Ford and Cole-Whitney Ford. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved dancing and square dancing, traveling, snowsledding and wreath making. George enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and his dog, Jackson. In addition to his wife of 68 years, Marguerite, he is survived by three children, Alyce DeGrasse of Carlsbad, Calif., Myrna Rollins of Lincoln and Richard Steeves of Beaufort, S.C.; two brothers, Ralph Steeves of Milford, Conn., and Bernard Steeves of Newport; a sister, Mary Borg of Connecticut; 12 grandchildren, Lynne, Lisa, Robert, Wendy, Janna, Stephen, Donald, Kelly, Allyson, John, Elizabeth and Scott; 19 great-grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Sean, Troy, Jack, Austin, Randi, Deven, MacKenzie, Zachary, Maggie, Shane, Alexa, Taylor, Marino, Ashley, Zachary, Aaron and Robin; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Edes; and three sisters, Geraldine, Evelyn, and Louise. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where there will be a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home with the Rev.
