MILLINOCKET – Georgette C. Baker, 76, wife of the late Russell V. Baker, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at a Millinocket hospital. She was born May 1, 1931, in Jacksonville, Fla., the daughter of George E. and Ruth (Swint) Clark. Georgette enjoyed gardening, working with plants and flowers, and entertaining friends in her home. As a young woman, she took flying lessons, nearly attaining her pilot’s license before starting her family. She worked and supported herself through secretarial school, and worked in Washington, D.C., as a sales representative for Wilson – Gill, Inc., selling commercial video equipment. After her husband’s death in 2001, she moved to Millinocket to be near two of her sons. She is survived by six children, Edward Sylvia of Hyattsville, Md., Sandra K. Baker of Durango, Colo., Edwina “Teddy” Sylvia of Beltsville, Md., Russell V. Baker Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Laurel, Md., Stephan Baker and his wife, Toni, of Millinocket, and Kevin D. Baker and his wife, Christine, of Millinocket; five grandchildren, Teresa Baker, Monica Baker, Brandon Sneed-Baker, Victoria Lynch and Joshua Lynch; two sisters, Virginia Colasurdo and her husband, Mike, of Olympia, Wash., and Louise Gaskins of Lennox, Georgia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Bouchard-Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket.
