BREWER, BANGOR and SKOWHEGAN – Georgia B. (Webb) Abbott, 86, wife of the late Forrest K. Abbott, died unexpectedly Sept. 11, 2007, surrounded by her loving family, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 2, 1921, in Belfast, the daughter of Harold and Annie (Cushman) Webb. Georgia was a graduate of Bangor High School in 1939. As a child, she enjoyed playing baseball in Broadway Park and later a tree was planted there in her honor. Georgia was employed in various jobs; her last job for several years was at Phillips Strickland House. Her greatest joy was her family, with the Golden Rule as her theme; she provided unending love and support. She also was a gifted portrait artist. Her talent as an artist touched many people in Maine and beyond. Georgia was a member of the Beacon of Hope Church of God, Bangor. She is survived by her son and wife, Stephen Abbott and Patricia, of Mosinee, Wis.; four daughters, Judith Mitchell of Bangor, Forrestine and her husband Richard McNeary, of Webster, N.Y., Holly and her husband, Scott Warman, of Bangor, and Robin and her husband, Rod McEwen, of Dover, N.H.; one brother, Theodore Webb of Sacramento, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Margaret Jean Abbott; sister, Elizabeth Lee; and her great-grandson, Steven Thoms. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Beacon of Hope Church of God, 1612 Ohio St., Bangor, with Rev. David Bean officiating. Interment, immediately after the service will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the interment at the church.
