PFLUGERVILLE, Texas – Nicholas James Giordano, 38, died Sept. 7, 2007, after a six-year battle with rare tumors. In his early years, Nic moved from Dallas, to Newtown, Conn., where he graduated high school. He married his high school sweetheart and both of them graduated from the University of New Mexico. Nic majored in finance and worked as a manufacturing comptroller Nic is survived by his daughter, Brandy; his second wife, Kristin Markland-Giordano; his biological parents, Roger Giordano of Newtown, Conn., and Phyllis Sparks of Texas; and his stepmother, Rev. Monica Giordano of Sullivan. The death of any child is unnatural, unexpected and breaks a parent’s heart. Yet in the midst of sorrow comes sweet wonder that this child touched and enriched our lives. Nic faced his medical trials with determination at both the National Institute of Health, Washington, D.C.; the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Md.; and the John Wayne Medical Center. He challenged his medical team to investigate and try new options on his behalf. Hope was his armor, and he wore it well. His courage and positive outlook helped him live two years past his prognosis. The care his Hospice team gave him allowed him to relax into a peaceful death, free from pain. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please send your support in his name to New Hope Hospice, P.O. Box 757, Holden, ME 04429.
