WASHBURN – Kenneth E. Drake, 84, died Monday night Sept. 10, 2007, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Washburn, the son of Evard and Irene (Madore) Drake. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a plant steam operator for Maine Public Service for 28 years. He is survived by his wife, Pauline E. (Jones) Drake of Presque Isle; a son, David Drake and his wife, Diane, of New Hartford, Conn.; two daughters and their husbands, Janice and Stewart Adams of Easton, and June and Alan Peters of Hampden; four brothers and their wives, Allen and Phyllis Drake of Connecticut, Rodney and Charlene Drake of Florida, Melvin and Janet Drake of Tennessee, and Wilbur and Georgia Drake of Arizona; four sisters, Marie Foote of Florida, Lillian Curtis of Orono, Betty Berglind and her husband, Albert, of South Carolina, and Helen Tompkins and her husband, Fred, of Wade; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Drake. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Riverside Extension Cemetery, Washburn, with Pastor Vaughn Martin officiating. Friends and family are invited to a reception immediately after the burial at Easton Wesleyan Church, Easton.
