MONSON – Gerald G. “Jerry” Hibbard, 58, died Dec. 15, 2003, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 4, 1945, in Madison, son of George and Geraldine (Bowring) Hibbard. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. After the service he worked in the local area in retail sales. He served in area fire departments for more than 20 years, including serving as the chief in Monson. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Guilford. He is survived by his wife, Juanita (Leighton) Hibbard of Monson; his mother of Madison; three sons, Mike Libby of Skowhegan, Mark Libby of Massachusetts, Michael Douglass of Oakland; four daughters, Kim Fortini of Massachusetts, Sherry Dawes of Skowhegan, Melanie Hibbard of Monson, Stephanie Douglass of Oakland; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Janice Lutgen of Colorado, Linda Cates of Sanford, Gail Moore of Skowhegan. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Margaret “Dodie” Stowe and Pastor Ryan Henderson officiating.
