ELLSWORTH – Geraldine “Jeddie” (Williams) Carlisle, 88, died Feb. 26, 2007, in Blue Hill, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Jeddie was born Jan. 1, 1919, in South Brewer, the daughter of Benjamin F. and Ethelyn (Shaw) Williams. Jeddie graduated from Brewer High School and after graduation was employed as a secretary at the University of Maine – Orono. Jeddie was a longtime resident of Ellsworth. She was an active volunteer at the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for many years and a member of the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth. She is survived by her children, Robin Carlisle Nowak of Bedford, N.H., Stephen R. Carlisle of Providence, R.I., Lindsay P. Carlisle of Concord, Mass., and Ellen W. Carlisle and husband, Doug Pierson, of Winchester, Mass.; grandchildren, Christian C. Nowak of Hampton Falls, N.H., and Craig R. Nowak of Goffstown, N.H.; four great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Carlisle. Calling hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth with the Rev. Linda Hatch officiating. Interment will be held in the spring at Woodbine Cemetery.
