PATTEN – Gertrude B. Anderson, 85, died July 13, 2007. Gertrude was born Nov. 6, 1921, in Island Falls, the daughter of Harold and Hazel (Desmond) Gerow. Her husband, Robert L. Anderson predeceased her. Gertrude was a graduate of Island Falls High School. She was a resident of Patten for most of her married life. Gertrude was active in the Patten Grange, Rebekahs, Patten Women’s Club, and Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ for some of these organizations and for her own enjoyment. She also was an avid crossword puzzle fan and enjoyed knitting and other handiwork. Gertrude is survived by a son, Robert and his wife, Kathryn, of Bangor; a daughter, Judith Pullen of Vernon, Conn.; granddaughters, Mary-Jayne Maher and her husband, Christopher, of Glastonbury, Conn., Rebecca Babb-Brott and her husband, Deerin, of Ipswich, Mass., Jennifer Wickenden and her husband, James, of Cobham, England; grandsons, Jason Robert Anderson of Bangor and Geoffrey Burton Anderson of Greenville; great-grandchildren, Ashley Maher, Alison and Anya Babb-Brott, and Evan and Jake Wickenden; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Roberta G. Babb; a son, Glen Richard; a sister, Evelyn Given; brothers, Vaughn Gerow and Harold Gerow Jr.; and a dear son-in-law, Stanwood R. Pullen Jr. A special thanks to Elizabeth Lord, Sally Flannery, Darlah Arbo, Sally Marr, Ruth Richards, and Rita Clark, the girls who cared for her the last few years. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Patten Cemetery, with the Rev. Leon Robinson officiating.
