GROTON, Conn. and ELLSWORTH – Gertrude H. Mosher, 75, died at a New London, Conn. hospital March 1, 2006. She was born Jan. 18, 1931, in Franklin, the daughter of James E. and Gail (Allen) Strout. She attended schools in Ellsworth and was a graduate of Ellsworth High School. She traveled extensively with her first husband as he served in the U.S. Navy and settled in Groton, Conn. in 1959. She was a member of the Irene Chapter O.E.S. Gertrude returned to Connecticut this past September, after being her mothers caregiver the last couple of years before she entered Collier’s Nursing Home where she resides today. She is survived by her mother, Gail L. Strout of Ellsworth; husband, Donald Mosher of Groton, Conn.; son, James E. Harris and wife, Deborah, of Jupiter, Fla.; daughter, Gail Phelps and husband, Greg, of Duncan, S.C.; sister, Edna Taylor of East Windsor, Conn.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Donald Harris; son, Donald; and brother, Allen Strout. Calling hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, Bucksport Road, Ellsworth, with the Rev. Mark Worth, officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Cherryfield. Contributions in Gertrude’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
