PRESQUE ISLE and FORT FAIRFIELD – Gertrude N. Bell, 87, died Sunday morning, June 24, 2007, at a Madawaska nursing facility after an extended illness. She was born Dec. 3, 1919, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Frank and Delia (Segee) Holton. She was married to Simeon Bell in 1946 and had resided in Presque Isle since 1948, until she became a resident of High View Manor, Madawaska, in 2003. Gertrude was a self-employed hairdresser in Presque Isle for many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bell was predeceased by her husband in 1948; one daughter, Simeon Beckwith in 1993; two brothers, Mark W. Holton and Harrison Lovely; and one stepson, Kenneth Bell. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Constance and Philip Flaker of Milford, Conn.; one sister, Edna Lovely of Presque Isle; one stepson, Richard Bell of Vermont; two stepdaughters, Helen Haskell of Orono and Dorothy Potter of Danvers, Mass.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call 2-3 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. with the Rev. Diane Langworthy officiating. Private interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton.
