CARIBOU – Gilbert E. Dee, 91, beloved husband of the late Thelma (Giggey) Dee and the late Katrina (Hardacker) Dee died Feb. 12, 2006, at a Caribou healthcare facility. He was born Oct. 22, 1914, in Cliftondale, N.B., Canada, the son of Nicholas and Mary Anne (Plante) Dee. A longtime Caribou resident, Gilbert worked on farms at a young age. He then became a union carpenter, a trade he practiced for more than 40 years. Gilbert was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness of Caribou. He is survived by one son, Ronald Dee and his wife, Katherine, of Houlton; one daughter, Gayle (Dee) MacHenry of Cortland, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Robert MacHenry of Cortland, N.Y., Belinda Lawrence of Holden, Ronald Dee of Red Bank, N. J., Donald Dee of Houlton, Robin Dee of Ellsworth. He will be especially remembered by two granddaughters whom he raised from the ages of six and seven years, Kristine (Sanderson) Michaud of Caribou and Kimberly (Sanderson) Tardiff of South Meridan, Conn.; 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Thelma (Giggey) Dee Nov. 30, 1943; his second wife, Katrina (Hardacker) Dee May 3, 1990; a son, Gary Dee; and two grandchildren, Betty Dee and Kirk MacHenry. Gilbert was the last of ten siblings, having been predeceased by three brothers and six sisters. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the chapel of Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, with Aaron Wedberg, speaker. Family and friends may call 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service, at the chapel of the funeral home. Spring interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gilbert’s memory may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Caribou. Envelopes will be available at the hall or the funeral home. Following the funeral service, all are invited to a time of refreshment and fellowship at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Council No. 1870, Washburn Road, Caribou.
