CARVER, Mass. – Glen J. Hatch, 89, passed away Nov. 28, 2007, after a long illness. Born April 10, 1918, in Charleston, he was the son of Rodney H. and Myra (Smith) Hatch. Glen and Mary Griffin, born in Galway, Ireland, were married June 22, 1941, in Boston. They moved to South Meadow Village, Carver, Mass., in 1985, where they had many friends. Friends and neighbors appreciated his ready smile and willingness to lend a helping hand. In his spare time, he enjoyed repairing radios, TVs and other electrical devices. Glen was especially fond of Irish music. Glen served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 359th General Service Battalion, Corps of Engineers, in France and Germany. He worked for several years for the A. J. Felz Co., of Newton, Mass. After retiring, he worked for his good friend, Ed Piepiora, at D&E Garage, Carver, Mass. Glen was predeceased by his wife, Mary; stepson, Francis Reynolds; sister, Gladys (Hatch) Braley; and brother, Arland Hatch. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He lived with his niece, Ernestine Cole, in Bangor, for a short time prior to his death. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 130 Main St., Carver, Mass. Visiting hours will be held 4-8 p.m. Monday at Shepherd Funeral Home, Carver, Mass. Interment will be at Mount Benedict Cem-etery, West Roxbury, Mass.
